Korotchenko: Interregional cooperation holds an important position in the development of mutual relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation

The interregional cooperation is extremely important for the development of mutual relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.

According to the Report Information Agency, this was the statement by Igor Korotchenko, the General Director of the Caspian Institute for Strategic Studies.

«Interregional cooperation is an important element of developing the entire complex of bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. The connections between the Northern Caucasus region and Azerbaijan are extremely important as they contribute to strengthening the economic capabilities of the regions, mutually beneficial trade and implementation of the joint projects», – he said.

The expert emphasized that meaningful efforts are being undertaken to improve transport communication between the two countries: «Overall, in the context of the entire complex of the successfully developing collaboration between Russia and Azerbaijan, the inter-regional cooperation is an extremely important segment».

Korotchenko noted that the friendly inter-regional ties between Moscow and Baku continue to make an important contribution into strengthening peace, stability and security in the region.
