Conference «Foreign Policy of Turkey after Presidential and Parliamentary Elections 2023»

Igor Korotchenko, the General Director of the Caspian Institute for Strategic Studies, participated in the conference «Foreign Policy of Turkey after Presidential and Parliamentary Elections 2023» in the Institute for Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). Alikber Alikberov, the Director of the Institute for Oriental Studies addressed the participants with a welcome speech.

In the course of the Conference, the participants reviewed the key vectors of the Turkish foreign policy during the period of the Justice and Development Party staying in power, as well as discussed the key parameters of the Turkish foreign policy during the post-election period.

In his presentation Igor Korotchenko emphasized the importance of developing the Russian-Turkish relations, mainly in the economy, which allows Moscow to successfully counteract the sanctions-related pressure by the USA and their satellites, as well as the fiduciary nature of the military and technological cooperation of our two countries resulting in Ankara making a choice – despite being a member of the NATO alliance – in favor of the Russian air defense missile system S-400 when creating its national aerospace defense system.

After the conference the participants had a chance to listen to the presentation prepared by the Section of Turkey of the Center for Studying the Near East and Middle East countries of the Institute for Oriental Studies of RAS dedicated to the collective monograph «Foreign Policy of Turkey during the period of the Justice and Development Party staying in power (2002-2023). On the occasion of the centenary of the Republic».
