President of Azerbaijan received Russia’s new ambassador

In a conversation with the correspondent of the Vestnik Kavkaza information and analytical agency the General Director of the Caspian Institute of Strategic Studies Igor Korotchenko expressed certainty that Mikhail Evdokimov would work for the strengthening of the Russian-Azerbaijani relations.

«Friendly, allied relationship between Moscow and Baku implemented, among other things, by concluding a Declaration of Allied Interaction will serve as a basis for the work of Mikhail Evdokimov in the capital of Azerbaijan. There is a dialogue of confidence and respect between our leaders Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev, they actively develop the entire complex of interaction between our countries in the political and economic spheres», he said.

«Mikhail Evdokimov has great and effective experience of work in the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including coordination of various formats of interaction and cooperation in the post-Soviet space. Taking into account the interest Baku shows to the formats of economic interaction, he will focus not only on political issues, but also on economic ones, on inter-regional cooperation, cultural interaction. Of course, the implementation of President Putin’s policy aimed at strengthening cooperation and interaction with Azerbaijan will become the main direction in the activities of the new Russian ambassador», Igor Korotchenko underlined.

The political analyst noted that the relations between Russia and Azerbaijan have a special quality status owing to the Declaration of Allied Interaction. «At the recent media forum in Shusha President Aliyev placed emphasis on the Russian-Azerbaijani connections noting that no external factors can influence our good-neighborly interaction. It is very important. That is why generally I highly appreciate Azerbaijan as one of Russia’s most important partners not only among the post-Soviet states. Azerbaijan’s status and weight in the system of international relations is growing», he said.

«Azerbaijan heads the Non-Aligned Movement. Now anti-colonial slogans are formulated which are in demand by the global South countries. This fully coincides with the Russian vision of the international situation. Azerbaijan is a very close partner of Turkey. As far as we are concerned, Turkey also moves to the foreground of our contacts on the international arena. All this once again intensifies the role and significance of Azerbaijan for Russia as one of the key countries for interaction and cooperation in modern world», Igor Korotchenko concluded.
